This weekend, Number 42 Records, a new Huddersfield-based label, are celebrating their launch, and it is an event not to be missed.
We know you're sad to see us go, but unfortunately the time has come to say goodbye. This is the final instalment of Music Is My Radar, featuring the Leeds and Reading Festival line up, this weeks new releases, and all the gigs you're going to in and around Huddersfield over the next week.
Apologies for our absence last week, but we return once more with the Music Is My Radar video session! This week we are joined by one of the stars of the new Number 42 Records, Elmaroe. We hope you enjoy his stripped back, acoustic pop numbers, and please, feel free to comment!
Apologies for the late arrival of the seventh installment, but last week was plagued with illness and mounting University workload. Better now than never, here's a belated Week 7 of the Music Is My Radar podcast! It features Nate Dogg, Faithless and yet more Justin Bieber, as well as this week's new album releases, and the pick of the best gigs in and around Huddersfield.
When McFly burst into the pop world way back in 2004, those of you that weren't fourteen year old girls cynically predicted their life cycle through the boy band factory and assumed they would be spat out into the incinerator at the not so distant end.
Up until around a year ago, I used to hate ska music, quite strongly. That was until I heard to opening trombone blasts of Keighley's Random Hand. Their aggressive ska-punk was the perfect gateway into the genre, and with a stellar live show to boot, they could easily be up there with the best in their field.
The best word to describe Tragic City Thieves' show at The Parish this weekend would probably be 'mental'. The Scottish rock 'n' rollers, playing the final show of their tour of the UK, were clearly in the mood to celebrate, with the Huddersfield locals reaping the rewards.
Following the leak of new song 'Brick By Brick' to YouTube last week, Arctic Monkeys have confirmed that their 4th album, entitled Suck It And See, will be released in early June.
The fourth Music Is My Radar video session is now up! This week we caught up with Huddersfield favourites Aged Yummy as they played a couple of songs for us. Hope you enjoy and as ever, please feel free to let us know what you think!
"There's quite a mix of bands on tonight", the lead singer of second band, Ossett's Ashe Vendetta, said of the Couture Gigs showcase at The Parish, and he was not wrong. While the three bands that played were very different, they perfectly showed the wide range of talent in the area right now.
