February 2010 Archives

Most news about upcoming movies just passes by without registering any kind of emotion out of me. 'Five more superhero movies on their way!' Oh, really. 'Big news - yet another horror film is being remade badly - again!' That's nice. 'Steven Soderbergh has another movie in the works, bringing his total to 16!' Whatever Soderbergh, like that's a surprise, you make about five films a year.

Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island has finally arrived. After the mystery thriller's delay from its scheduled release in October of last year, we'll finally get to see Marty and Best Friend Forever Leonardo DiCaprio's fourth collaboration at the beginning of next month.

Last Tuesday, the 2010 Academy Award nominations were announced. Predictably, Avatar and The Hurt Locker led the way with nine nominations each, making for an interesting rivalry between former husband and wife James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow.
